About the Walk:
Attendees will learn key identifying features and interesting characteristics of several common (and a few less common) tree species selected and planted over time by the municipality. Intended as an introductory guide, this walk will provide a basic initial toolkit with which to distinguish between genera (eg. maple from oak) and also between species (eg. silver maple from Norway maple). We'll chat about nativity, common issues, and suitability for the urban environment. Bark, twigs, leaves, flowers, fruit, and overall growth habit may all be observed and used as key identifying features, with the aim of providing attendees a handful of tree ID tips and tricks they can easily access on their next neighbourhood walk.
This walk is not associated with the City of Windsor.
