About the Walk:
Colchester is the first English Village laid out in Upper Canada west of Niagara.
The 0.5km walking tour will begin and end at the Old Schoolhouse (1881), 195 Bagot St., Colchester, making stops at Christ Church, Anglican (1819), with the Woodmen Hall addition, the cemetery with the replica chapel, and manse.
Local descendant tour hosts will share the importance of this community space for the people of the neighborhood. Stops along the route will share gathered information gleaned from family histories of those that have lived here for generations.
The Church is active. The Chapel is used for Summer services and special occasions.
Heritage Colchester is working to preserve the history and local stories, along with the schoolhouse, for the community today and into the future.
